When your world becomes small everything can be a problem. Little things become increasingly frustrating. The idiosyncrasies of the people we love and work with start to grate on our nerves.
So what can I do to enlarge my view of the world? How can I rise above the tendency to shrink into my own self-interests? Here's some suggestions...
- Go on a missions trip. Seeing the condition of most of the world builds a sense of gratitude for all we have.
- Spend an hour in worship. When we magnify God, He gets larger in our eyes. He never changes. He is always as big and powerful as He is right now. But worship magnifies God and minimizes problems.
- Serve someone else. When you go out of your way to do for someone else, you get the benefit of peace.
- Humble yourself. Apologize to someone you need to seek forgiveness from. Acknowledge your need of God or others. Humility releases grace and pride stops it up.
- Count your blessings. Make a list of all the many things that God has done for you. When we get cranky, we are often counting our burdens and not our blessings.
- Dream. Think about the future. Revisit God's promises for your life. Consider what life will be like as God continues to move in your life.
- Identify and pursue God's purposes. Consider why you were made. Decide to fulfill your destiny.
Make your world large and your heart will thank you!
AMEN!!!! I loved that tight spring analogy...THAT WAS GOOD!!
